| Stony Range Flora Reserve, Dee Why |
| There are many tracks through this delightful reserve.
The walk selected will depend on the plants which are in flower. All walks commence with a stroll from the entry along a path fragrant with mint bushes and shaded by the tall indigenous trees growing there such as Blueberry Ash, Sydney Red Gums and Peppermints. This path reaches a pool which provides permanent water for bird life. Seats around the pool provide the opportunity to relax and enjoy this tranquil place.
The next place to explore is the rainforest gully which gives us the opportunity to see coachwoods, palms and a rare red cedar growing.
Now it is time to walk through plantings of boronias, dog rose, mint bushes and rock orchids. A junction is reached and those who are comfortable about climbing to the higher level of the garden on the sandstone escarpment above are able to appreciate closeup many native sandstone flowers such as rock orchids, flannel flowers and wax flowers.
Those who prefer not to climb higher can enjoy the tranquil setting of the cascades. Many native birds visit here for a drink and frolic in the water.
Throughout the reserve many varieites of epiphytic native orchids can be seen growing on the rocks and trees. Many of these are from the collection of the late Alec Blombery.
